For filing season 2018, the IRS expanded the pilot program to verify the authenticity of Form W-2 data. This is one of the steps implemented by the Security Summit to combat identity theft and refund fraud.
This code verifies W-2 data submitted by taxpayers on e-filed individual tax returns. The IRS has partnered with a few selected W2 providers to include this 16-character verification code. While Aatrix is not a part of this pilot program, we continue to monitor the progress of the initiative.
